Styles that are Timeless

We know a lot of you know what it is like to doll up and feel that magic that happens when you have that gorgeous glow and are all dressed up.  You can add that to any outfit or occasion when you have the right skincare routine.  You can always add a pop of color with a bold lip.  It really never goes out of style.  The trick to allowing this to look incredible is to find the perfect shade of your bold lip color.  You can have reds that pull on a cooler shade or a warmer one.  Then, pending if you want your bold lip to give off light, you may select one with a bit more effect pigment in it, such as (but not limited to) mica.  I love a matte lip when I have a great complexion.  I'm also a huge fan of lip contour because you can visually have the look of fuller lips with these techniques.  Typically, if I do a bold lip, I do not have heavy showgirl makeup on the eyes.  I keep it classy, like Old Hollywood glam all the way.  Then, instead of blush, highlighter and all that jazz, I will still do light contouring but keep it very neutral.  I want the focus to be on my bold lip.  For those who have lips that need a bit more moisture or glaze, there are options that are called lip toppers, allowing you to just dab on a bit or a lot.  I've also combined our long-wear lip base and then used a satin/standard finish lipstick (which is not over the top glossy nor fully matte).  In the even that I am on the go and don't have the entire makeup bag with me, I will use my talc-free powder to set the outer edge of my lip line.  Many liners claim to be waterproof but I find that this lets me truly lock in the line.  Then, I apply the lipstick within the lines.  Both ways allow me to have the look of lipstick for all day.  I often get asked how my lipstick lasts so long and a combination of these things are what I do most of the time (even with a natural lip with very dolled up and brightly decorated eyes).  If you find your lips are not naturally fully, you can use lip contour and when you do your outline, I like to use a shade deeper than my actual lipstick to complement the shape and create the illusion of a perfect pucker.

When it comes to the rest of the look, you can absolutely play up the natural features that you already have - even if that means you choose to go with a monochromatic fashion statement.  Timeless styles can mean many things depending on where you are in the world and I think that it comes always back to this inner confidence that shines through.  Rocking bold lips, for instance, may not be for you - but you can add your pop of classic color with your eyes and showcase this area, with a nude lip.  Creativity is key and it is fun to experiment with different looks to see what works best for you.

Are you into brights or neutral hues?

I am so into the matte look.  I'm bold with the lipstick but in a nude hue kind of way.
